Looking for a fun way to spoil your pup this season? Try whipping up a batch of homemade dog treats! Not only are they budget-friendly and tail-wag approved, but they also let you control the ingredients—especially helpful for dogs with allergies or sensitive stomachs.
Here’s one of my favorite fall-inspired recipes that’s simple, wholesome, and smells amazing while baking:
🍠 Pumpkin & Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Soft, chewy, and packed with pup-safe flavor
Ingredients:
- 1 cup canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling)
- 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free!)
- 2 eggs
- 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for sensitive pups)
Optional Add-ins:
- A sprinkle of cinnamon (for flavor and digestion)
- Chia seeds or flaxseed (for a healthy coat)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs until smooth.
- Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
- Roll out dough and cut into shapes using cookie cutters (or just slice into squares).
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes.
- Let cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
🐾 Groomer’s Tip:
If your dog has food sensitivities, let me know! I’m happy to adjust grooming products or skip treats during appointments. You can even bring your own if you’d like me to use them for positive reinforcement.
🧡 Treats Made with Love
Homemade goodies are a great way to bond with your dog, celebrate the season, and sneak in a little extra nutrition. Plus, they make adorable gifts for fellow pet parents!
