What is better than one Dog of the Day? Four! Today in the mobile salon, we had a “Double Duo” Saturday that kept the energy high, the treats flowing, and the grooming table busy. We got to spend our day with two pairs of siblings on opposite ends of the size spectrum, and they brought plenty of personality to the appointment.
The Gentle Giants: Molly & Kayla
Our first duo of the day consisted of two gorgeous Mastiff/Lab mixes. There is a whole lot to love with these two!
- Molly: This sweet girl came out to the van flashing the most adorable, happy smile. She was completely ready for the snack portion of the appointment—but not so much the bath! We managed to get her squeaky clean despite her protests, and she certainly earned her post-bath treats.
- Kayla: If there was an award for the most affectionate client, Kayla would win it hands down. She absolutely adores her time in the salon and just wanted to give me as many kisses as possible. It is impossible not to smile when working with such a loving gentle giant.
The Shih Tzu Brothers: Burrow & Nixon
For our second pair, we scaled down in size but definitely not in personality. These two Shih Tzus kept everyone on their toes!
- Burrow: This cute little guy decided he wanted to play rather than get groomed. In fact, before he even made it out to the mobile salon, he initiated an intense game of “you can’t catch me” right inside the house! After a great game of indoor tag and letting him get those wiggles out, he finally settled in for the relaxing spa day he desperately needed.
- Nixon: Our sweet old man! Nixon did so good for his groom today, which is a huge victory considering his preferences. To put it simply: Nixon doesn’t like his face being done. He doesn’t like the dryer. He doesn’t like the bath. In fact, Nixon doesn’t really like the grooming service at all! However, we always work at his pace and keep his comfort first. Even when he is being a grumpy senior, he is absolutely adorable, and we love having him in the van.
A Note from the Groomer: Days like today are exactly why I love mobile grooming. From giant, kiss-giving Lab mixes to tiny, playful Shih Tzus, every dog brings their own unique challenges and joys to the table.
