Today’s spotlight shines on Charlie, a sweet senior Terrier mix who has been with me since the very beginning. From day one of this little grooming adventure, Charlie has been part of the family—one of those dogs whose presence feels woven into the story of the business itself.
Charlie is an older gal with a wise face, a gentle spirit, and a heart full of quiet loyalty. She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be flashy or dramatic; her sweetness speaks softly but deeply. And while she’s always happy to see me, she has very clear opinions about certain parts of grooming.
Bath time?
Not her favorite.
Blow‑drying?
Also not her favorite.
Being told she’s a good girl afterward?
Absolutely her favorite.
Charlie has never been shy about letting me know when she’s not thrilled about the water or the dryer. She gives me that classic senior‑dog look—the one that says, “Nicole… really? Again?” But even when she’s unsure or a little grumpy about the process, she trusts me. And that trust is something I never take lightly.
With gentle handling, slow movements, soft talking, and lots of reassurance, we get through every groom safely and calmly. Over the years, we’ve built a rhythm that honors her age, her comfort, and her boundaries. She knows I’ll never rush her. She knows I’ll always keep her safe. And she knows that once the bath and blow‑dry are behind her, the rest of her spa day is smooth sailing.
Charlie is a reminder of why I love working with senior dogs—their honesty, their wisdom, their deep bonds, and the privilege of caring for them through every stage of life. She’s been with me since day one, and every visit with her feels like a little piece of history walking through the door.
Here’s to you, Charlie—my sweet old soul, my day‑one girl, and today’s well‑deserved Spotlight Dog of the Day. 💛🐾
