Bringing Home a New Puppy? Here’s What to Know Before Their First Grooming Appointment

Welcoming a new puppy into your home is one of life’s sweetest joys. Those tiny paws, the puppy breath, the wiggly excitement — it’s a season filled with love, learning, and lots of new routines. As you prepare for your newest family member, it’s also the perfect time to think ahead about their grooming needs.

While every puppy is unique, there are a few important things to keep in mind before scheduling their first appointment with us:

Plan Ahead for Grooming Availability

Our schedule fills up quickly — in fact, we’re typically booked about six months in advance. If you have multiple dogs, fitting everyone in can be especially challenging. Planning early ensures your puppy can get into a consistent grooming routine right from the start, which helps them grow into confident, well‑adjusted adults.

Breed Limitations May Apply

Not all groomers are able to safely or effectively take on every breed, and that includes us. Coat type, size, temperament, and equipment limitations all play a role in whether we can provide the level of care your dog deserves. If you’re considering a breed with high‑maintenance grooming needs, it’s always a good idea to check ahead of time to make sure we’re the right fit.

Vaccinations Are Required for All Services

For the safety of your puppy, our groomer, and every dog in our care, all puppies must be fully vaccinated before we can provide grooming services. This protects them during a time when their immune systems are still developing and ensures a safe environment for everyone.

Bringing home a puppy is a big, beautiful commitment. With a little planning and preparation, you’ll set them up for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences — and we’ll be here to cheer them on every step of the way. If you ever have questions about scheduling, breed suitability, or puppy grooming readiness, we’re always happy to help.
