Three dogs, three very different takes on spa day. Peanut brought the charm, and the Aussie duo brought the opinions. Here is how Wednesday went in the van!
Peanut the Sweetest Little Lady
First up was Peanut, and she is exactly what I picture when someone says “Chihuahua.” Tiny, bright-eyed, and just a happy little dog from the second she landed on the table. She has wiggle waggles in that tail that simply do not quit, and the cutest little wiggle waggles at that. Nails were on the list and she handled them like a champ. The sweetest little lady, no contest.
Vito the Talker
Next up, Vito — one half of my favorite opinionated Aussie pair. Vito is the brother who likes to keep me informed. He has thoughts about the tub, thoughts about the table, and he shares every one of them. He had plenty to say about his tidy-up, especially the back end. He also threw me a wink afterward, which I am choosing to read as approval.
Anoush and the Disappearing Feet
Rounding out the day was Anoush, Vito’s sister and the reigning champion of the Disappearing Feet Trick. The move: tuck all four paws up underneath the body as far as they will physically go, then look at me like, “I do not have feet. You cannot trim what does not exist.” It has not worked on me yet. She keeps running it anyway, and I respect the commitment to the bit. Aussies are working dogs with strong opinions about how the day should go, and Anoush has never once pretended otherwise.
Three very different personalities, one very full day in the van. That is the job, and I would not trade it.
