Dogs of the Day: Wednesday, October 28th

Halloween Edition Dogs of the Day poster for Wednesday, October 28th showing Walter, Nala and Honey with Clifford the Big Red Dog and Emily Elizabeth.

Hi! I’m Clifford. I’m a big red dog.

Today Nicole dressed up as Emily Elizabeth. That is so much fun. I thought that was a wonderful idea and I told her so about eleven times.

Three dogs came to the van today. Three! Three is my favorite number of dogs, because it is more than two and fewer than four, which means everybody fits and nobody gets left out.

Walter

Walter is black and shiny, like a brand new bicycle. He is a big dog, and I like big dogs, because being big is one of my favorite things to be.

Walter got dried off, and Emily Elizabeth had to turn herself off for a little while because the dryer gets loud. I do not like loud things either, Walter. I understand completely. When she came back, Walter was all clean and ready to go home.

Then she said, “Put the treat it in the bag, Walter,” and “Let’s go, let’s go, Walter,” and off he went. Goodbye, Walter! I hope you had a very good day!

Nala

Nala is soft. Emily Elizabeth kept saying how soft she was getting, and she was right. Nala has a whole lot of hair and it needed a haircut, and haircuts take a long time when you have that much hair. I would know. I am very big and I have an enormous amount of fur.

Emily Elizabeth did one side of Nala and then she said, “See, that wasn’t so bad. We’re gonna do the other side, okay?” And Nala was very brave about it, and Emily Elizabeth said, “Good job, Nala. You’re doing it.” which is a very kind thing to say to somebody who is being brave.

Nala had to keep her little head up and hold still, because Emily Elizabeth explained that jerking around is what makes it dangerous. Nala held still. Nala got called a very good girl. I would have given her a big red nose boop if I had been there. I am told I boop too hard.

Honey

Honey was the last one, and Honey is a small dog with an enormous amount of personality. She wore her little red outfit and her bows. Emily Elizabeth sang to her — “Honey bun-du-du-du” — and singing to your dog is one of the best things a person can do, so I was very pleased about that.

Honey got her nails done one foot at a time. Then she sneezed the biggest sneezes I have ever heard. I have heard a lot of sneezes. These were enormous. They came out of a very small dog, which made them even better.

Honey is a very good girl. Emily Elizabeth said so again and again, so it must be true. Honey is coming back on the tenth of December, which is a long time from now, but I know she will be good until then.

And tomorrow Emily Elizabeth is going to be somebody else, so we all get to guess again. I hope it is a dog. I hope it is a big one.

Until next time, my furry friends!
