Here are examples of why we will not be using a bleach or lightning product on the dogs we dye.

Example: OPAWZ Lightening Cream is rich in nutrient oils, which are milder than traditional bleaching powder, and can help prevent the hair from drying out and breaking when lightening.

Suitable for healthy adult dogs and horses. Cannot be used on elderly or pregnant pets. Cannot be used on cats or small animals. Recommended to use 1-2 weeks prior to dyeing.

Please note:

The lightening cream will lift dark hair to brown or light blond, not white. This base color will affect the colors applied on top. Certain colors, including blues, greens, and purples will be more affected. Pale-toned dyes may not show up correctly. If you are unsure, please do a color test patch to preview the color result first.

The following are our concerns

  • The product above starts of talking about ingredients that they had added to stop breakage or drying out the fur. We as groomers cannot guarantee that this product will or will not do so.
  • This product it is not intended to be used on specific stages of life pets. This is our biggest concern with these products. We as groomers are not in your dog everyday life. Therefore, we do not the best idea of your dog’s current health or wellbeing.
  • The next thing that concerns us is that it recommends that this product is to be used 1-2 weeks prior to dyeing the fur. This means that the product has some type of harsh chemical that can cause abrasions or irritation to your pet’s skin, such as developer.
  • This also means you would need to book appointments in advance.
  • There would be a full grooming service fee for each appointment.
  • The last thing that concerns us is that there is not a guarantee that the product will lift the fur to a light enough level for the dye to show through the proper shade desired.
  • There is not a bleach or lightener that exist that will not cause damage.
